Hyderabad: Telangana’s push for cleaner land governance and dispute-free records under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is gaining traction. Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday said the government has received 10,031 applications for 5,000 licensed surveyor positions.
Applications closed on the 17th. The move comes as part of new Bhubharati rules mandating that land registration processes attach survey maps, forcing a rapid scale-up in surveying capacity. Ponguleti reviewed the progress in a meeting with department officials.
Training for these recruits begins 26 May. A two-month module will run at the Survey Training Academy (TALIM) in Gachibowli. Officials have been directed to fast-track arrangements.
Ponguleti expressed hope that inducting surveyors would create rural jobs while aligning with the government’s broader aim of land dispute resolution. Surveyor recruitment, he said, is critical to support the state’s ambitions.
Digitisation of village maps is also rolling out. Through TGRAC (Telangana Remote Sensing Applications Centre), pilot mapping will begin this week in three villages: Lingala in Nagarkurnool, Takkalapalli in Jagtial, and Peddakorukondi in Khammam.
These digital maps will be remotely accessible and far more accurate than manual versions. Ponguleti said land sizes and contours can be precisely recorded, making mutation processes quicker and more transparent. Updates and backups will be automatic, ensuring long-term reliability.
