Telangana forms six-member panel to probe Gulzar Houz fire tragedy

Hyderabad: Telangana government on Tuesday constituted a six-member committee to investigate the fire tragedy at Gulzar Houz that killed 17 people on 18 May.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the panel, comprising top bureaucrats, will carry out a detailed inquiry into the causes, sequence of events, and the response by various departments. The committee includes GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty, Police Commissioner C V Anand, Fire Services Commissioner Nagi Reddy, and TSSPDCL CMD Musharraf Ali Faruqui.

Officials will inspect the site, verify the circumstances surrounding the blaze, and review department-level actions. Their findings will be compiled into a comprehensive report.

The minister stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will review the report before taking a final call on further steps. The panel will also recommend measures to prevent such incidents in future.
