Hyderabad: The Telangana government has rolled out an ambitious recruitment drive, announcing a job calendar that kicks off with over 17,000 government posts in the first phase and sets a target of filling 1 lakh vacancies by March 2026.
The decision was taken during a marathon cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday, July 10, at the Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat. The cabinet met for more than five hours, delving into pressing administrative matters. They included the upcoming local body elections and a sweeping public sector recruitment push.
Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Vakiti Srihari briefed the media about the decisions taken during the cabinet meeting. Minister Ponnam announced that the job calendar had been finalised, adding that the first round of notifications—covering over 17,000 government posts—is set to be issued shortly.
He stressed that the move fulfills a major Congress campaign promise: releasing a job calendar every year to bring transparency and structure to government recruitment. The calendar, he said, will help job aspirants plan their preparation with greater certainty.
According to the ministers, the calendar is designed to streamline hiring, end ambiguity around job notifications, and ensure regular recruitment across departments. Notifications will be issued in phases in line with the new schedule, starting soon.
Officials say the initiative is not just about numbers—it’s also meant to address youth unemployment and strengthen the state’s administrative machinery.
