Hyderabad: CPI national secretary K. Narayana on Sunday accused former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family of large-scale corruption in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. He said public statements made by BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha clearly exposed the irregularities.
Demanding strict accountability, Narayana called for a swift and transparent investigation into the alleged misuse of public funds. “This project was built with people’s money. It deserves a full and independent probe,” he asserted.
Moreover, Narayana alleged that the BJP builds tactical alliances with regional parties while actively working to destabilize dynastic leadership. “This strategy was evident in Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra,” he said.
Speaking on the Delhi liquor case, he claimed Kavitha’s arrest was politically motivated. He added that BJP pressure pushed her to distance herself from the BRS and consider forming a new political party.
Addressing the upcoming Vice-Presidential election, Narayana warned that if BRS refuses to support the INDIA bloc’s nominee, Justice B. Sudershan Reddy, it would signal a hidden alliance with the BJP.
CPI Telangana secretary and MLC K. Sambasiva Rao backed the allegations. He accused BRS of misleading both its party workers and the public. “If BRS aligns with the BJP, it risks losing its political relevance,” he warned.
Furthermore, Rao urged the BRS to abandon what he termed a “head-in-the-sand” approach. He also called on the state government to resume work on the halted Pranahita–Chevella project and reiterated the demand for a full probe into the Kaleshwaram scam.
