Telangana roads set for ₹10,986 crore revamp under HAM model

Hyderabad: Telangana is poised to overhaul 5,587 km of roads over the next three years under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), with an investment of ₹10,986 crore. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced the ambitious initiative during a key review meeting at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka also participated in the meeting along with Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Finance Secretary Haritha, and R&B Chief Engineers Jayabharathi and B.V. Rao.

Phase 1: Strengthening and Widening Focus

The first phase will include strengthening 3,792 km of roads at ₹4,416 crore and widening another 1,795 km at ₹6,569 crore. As part of the plan, double-lane roads will link mandal headquarters to districts, while four-lane roads will connect district headquarters to Hyderabad.

Komatireddy confirmed that all Assembly constituencies will receive equal attention. Moreover, he said tenders for Phase 1 would open within two months.

Setting National Standards in Road Quality

Emphasizing the importance of infrastructure in development, Komatireddy stated, “Good roads are the foundation of progress.” He said Telangana aims to become a national model for safe and high-quality roadways.

Bhatti Vikramarka directed officials to prioritize road projects based on traffic survey data. Furthermore, he stressed the need for equitable planning and fast-tracked execution to benefit every constituency.

Special Focus on Flood-Damaged Roads

Earlier in the day, Komatireddy reviewed the status of roads affected by recent floods. He instructed officials to submit comprehensive reports promptly.

The Minister expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka for their unwavering support in enhancing Telangana’s road network.
