Hyderabad: AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has urged Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to extend the current session beyond 15 working days to allow for detailed debates on urgent public issues.
In a letter to the Speaker, Owaisi stressed the need for strict adherence to Assembly rules governing debates and discussions. He sought adequate time for Question Hour, Zero Hour, Short Discussions, and Calling Attention motions.
AIMIM Assembly session issues focus on floods, farmers, welfare
The AIMIM identified 13 major subjects for short discussions. These include floods in Telangana, crop losses, farmers’ suicides, paddy procurement, and the shortage of urea. The party also called for debates on welfare schemes for BCs, SCs, STs, economically weaker sections, and religious minority communities, as well as developmental works in Hyderabad’s Old City under projects like SRDP, SNDP, CRMP, CPP, Musi beautification, MMTS-II, MRTS, HMWSSB, Transco, Discom, and HMDA.
Owaisi further sought discussions on the status of Kaleshwaram and other irrigation projects, Mission Kakatiya, unemployment, the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, Pay Revision Commission issues, DA arrears, and RTC employees’ absorption.
Other listed subjects included implementation of the Revenue Act, Bhumata portal, land auctions, Bharat Future City, law and order, traffic problems in Hyderabad and surrounding districts, pending contractor payments, retirees’ benefits, state finances, GST, tax devolution, local body elections with 42 percent BC reservations, and power sector performance including calls for a judicial inquiry.
