HYDERABAD: Akunuri Murali, Chairman of the Telangana Education Commission, has questioned AIMIM Legislature Party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s proficiency in Telugu. This follows Owaisi’s remarks in the assembly about Minister Seethakka’s alleged lack of understanding of English and Hindi, attributing misunderstandings to language barriers.
Murali, via the social media platform X, addressed Owaisi, stating, “It’s understandable if the minister doesn’t know Hindi, but why don’t you know Telugu?” He emphasized that, having been born and raised in Hyderabad, Owaisi should feel a social responsibility to learn Telugu, the first official language spoken by the majority in the state.
Murali further questioned how Owaisi comprehends assembly proceedings conducted predominantly in Telugu. He criticized the practice of delivering speeches in English within the assembly and expressed concern about Owaisi’s ability to understand state issues without proficiency in Telugu. Murali also condemned the notion of looking down upon individuals who may not be fluent in Hindi or English.
