Andhra Pradesh Launches Month-Long Yoga Awareness Drive; PM Modi Likely to Attend June 21 Event

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a month-long yoga awareness campaign ahead of International Yoga Day on 21 June, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend the main event in Visakhapatnam.

Tourism Minister Durgesh inaugurated the drive on Wednesday with a large-scale yoga session at Gautami Ghat in Rajahmundry. Addressing participants, the minister said the state is preparing to mark the global event in grand fashion with programmes spanning from rural to district levels under the theme ‘Yogindra 2025’.

Highlighting the scale of the campaign, Durgesh announced that over 20 million people across the state are expected to perform yoga on June 21, with more than five lakh participating in mass sessions on the day itself.

He also noted that several prominent personalities, including film actors and cultural figures, are expected to join the activities. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh will participate in yoga events being held across various locations in the state.

The campaign aims to promote physical and mental well-being and strengthen public engagement with yoga as a holistic health practice.
