Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused the Congress government of cheating Telangana’s people and Backward Classes (BCs). His comments came after the High Court decided to delay local body elections in the state.

In a statement, Bandi Sanjay said Congress had turned the people’s trust into a “fraudulent experiment.” He added that the party had, once again, betrayed public confidence.
He recalled that Congress announced Telangana’s formation on December 9, 2009, but soon took a U-turn. As a result, he said, people lost trust for nine years.
Later, he said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy promised to take the oath on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday, December 9, 2023. However, he went back on that promise, proving that Congress cannot stand by its word.
Further, Bandi Sanjay said that through GO MS No. 9, presented as “BC empowerment,” Congress tried to deceive BCs by including Muslims in the BC quota. He pointed out that the government, however, failed to defend its order in the High Court on October 9, 2025. “There was no data, no defense, only deceit,” Sanjay remarked.
Meanwhile, he accused Congress of exploiting Telangana’s emotions and BC hopes for decades to gain political advantage. “For Congress, Telangana and BCs are not voices to respect but votes to use,” Bandi Sanjay declared.
