Bhatti Vikramarka calls for greater banking support
Addressing the State Level Bankers’ meeting at Praja Bhavan, Vikramarka stated that the banking sector is central to the “Telangana Rising–2047” initiative. He highlighted that Telangana currently tops the country in per capita income at ₹3.87 lakh and leads in agriculture, industry, and services.
He further noted the state’s focus on agriculture through key schemes such as loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, and free electricity. Additionally, he commended banks for achieving 33.64% of the annual credit plan target within the first quarter.
No pressure on farmers for collateral, says Deputy CM
Vikramarka advised banks against pressuring farmers to pledge land, assets, or fixed deposits for loans. He pointed out that agriculture remains the backbone of the economy. Moreover, he reminded that the government has already deposited funds under loan waivers and Rythu Bharosa directly into banks.
He disclosed that banks received ₹30,000 crore on behalf of farmers, which he termed a historic achievement in the sector’s recovery performance.
