Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday hit out at BRS leaders for their language and legacy, accusing them of dragging Telangana into water and power crises through administrative negligence and political arrogance.
Speaking at Nagarjunasagar, where he reviewed hydel power generation as part of a state-wide inspection of energy projects, Bhatti condemned BRS leaders for calling the Chief Minister names. “Calling a CM-level leader ‘sannasi’ or ‘howle’ is not just indecent, it is uncivilised,” he said, adding that the language used by BRS leaders who lost both Assembly and Parliament elections is an embarrassment to society.
Bhatti said that despite ruling Telangana for a decade, BRS failed to secure the state’s rightful share of Krishna and Godavari waters. “Because of their inaction, we are facing a water crisis today. Not a single major project was completed under their watch,” he said.
He credited the Congress, especially Sonia Gandhi, for Telangana statehood. “Even without strength in Parliament, Sonia Gandhi convinced other parties and granted Telangana,” he said.
Reviewing hydel power at Nagarjunasagar, Bhatti highlighted that the much-hailed reverse pump storage technology was already introduced by the Congress in 1978. Telangana currently faces a peak demand of 17,162 MW. Bhatti praised electricity department staff for ensuring uninterrupted, quality power supply during this surge.
The Deputy CM said new industries established under the Revanth Reddy government have increased power demand, signalling economic growth and contributing to higher GSDP.
He said the state has fixed a target of generating 20,000 MW of green power by 2029–30. “We are focusing on pollution-free, low-cost energy. From artisans to CMDs, all staff will be trained in new technologies to match global standards,” he said.
