Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said education is the only route to social progress and global competitiveness. He made the remarks after releasing a coffee table book on education at an event held in Jubilee Hills.
He declared that society evolves only through learning, and that no state or country can advance without prioritising education. “If we want to compete with the world, it is possible only through education,” he asserted.
Citing India’s educational legacy, Bhatti said institutions built since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru like IITs and RECs have enabled many Telugu individuals to become global CEOs. He noted that private universities have also contributed by offering advanced technical education.
Compete globally through education: Govt launches ₹200 crore schools in all constituencies
He emphasised that a curriculum must evolve with social needs to stay relevant. Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, he said the Telangana cabinet has launched a Skill University tailored to industry demands. Moreover, about 100 government ITIs have been upgraded with syllabi created in consultation with industry leaders.
To deliver world-class education for poor students, the government has started constructing Young India integrated residential schools in each Assembly constituency. Each school is being developed on 25 acres with ₹200 crore in funding. A total of 104 schools are being built simultaneously, with residential facilities for both students and staff.
Bhatti also announced that Koti Women’s College has been renamed after freedom fighter Chakali Ailamma and ₹500 crore has been allocated for its infrastructure. The government has begun faculty recruitment at Osmania University, with emphasis on Backward Classes.
After a decade of neglect, he said, the state now prioritises education and healthcare. “We are planning not just for the present, but for the next 50 to 100 years,” he said. He urged private institutions to contribute to educational development and assured that the government will address their concerns.
