Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said the Congress government began implementing its guarantees within 48 hours of taking charge. He was speaking after hoisting the National Flag at the Praja Palana Dinotsavam programme held at Parade Grounds in Khammam.
He explained that the Telangana Green Energy Policy would attract ₹1.98 lakh crore in investments by 2030. With 20,000 MW of renewable power, the state aimed to create 1.14 lakh jobs. Under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme, women’s groups would generate 2,000 MW of solar power. In addition, 550 Khammam farmers would benefit from solar pump-sets under the Indira Souri Giri scheme.
Welfare schemes and healthcare projects in Khammam
Vikramarka said ration cards remained vital for welfare. He criticised the previous government for neglecting the people with low-income but said Congress had issued 24,818 new cards in Khammam. As a result, more than one lakh people were now receiving fine rice every month.
He pointed out that women saved ₹209 crore through 4.44 crore free bus trips. Furthermore, the Gruhajyothi scheme extended ₹160.3 crore in subsidies to 2.43 lakh households. He said the Indiramma programme deposited ₹5 lakh directly into each beneficiary’s account, with 3,500 houses sanctioned in the district.
The Deputy CM added that Aarogyasri coverage doubled from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. He noted that 1,257 government schools in Khammam were serving 70,257 students free of cost. He also detailed health works: 100-bed hospitals at Madhira and Sathupalli, each costing ₹34 crore; a 50-bed facility at Kalluru for ₹10.5 crore; a 30-bed unit at Penuballi for ₹7.5 crore; and a 100-bed hospital at Wyra for ₹37.5 crore. Moreover, a ₹23.5 crore critical care block at Khammam Government Hospital was under construction.
He said Vanamahotsavam aimed to plant 35.32 lakh saplings, of which 29.1 lakh had already been planted. Collector Anudeep Durishetty, Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt and other senior officials attended the event.
