Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramachandra Rao on Friday paid floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan at Tank Bund on the occasion of the philosopher-statesman’s 138th birth anniversary, observed nationwide as Teachers’ Day.
Speaking to reporters, Rao hailed the contributions of India’s second President, a Bharat Ratna awardee, noting that he had given global recognition to the teaching profession. He stressed that teachers, as shapers of future generations, must always be respected and honoured.

On the same occasion, Rao criticised the Congress-led Telangana government for what he described as neglect of the education sector. He pointed to delays in the disbursal of salaries for government teachers and pensions for retired staff.
Rao demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy prioritise education by ensuring timely payments, strengthening universities, and moving beyond “mere funding announcements.”
