Hyderabad: Cable TV and internet operators in Old City staged a protest on Thursday after electricity department officials reportedly cut overhead wires without prior notice. The incident occurred in Chandrayangutta, leading to disruption of services in both government and private offices, as well as households.
Operators said that residents could not access television or internet services, causing inconvenience across the locality. They alleged that similar wire-cutting operations were being carried out in districts across Telangana without warning, leaving thousands of customers affected.
Operators urge CM to intervene
The protesting operators said that officials should provide advance notice and time to make adjustments instead of acting abruptly. They described the move as arbitrary and harmful to both service providers and consumers.
“Such actions leave people without TV or internet overnight. This is not the right approach. Authorities should at least give us time to reorganise services,” the operators said in their appeal.
They urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene and hold discussions with electricity officials to ensure a more coordinated process. “We only need some time to comply with regulations, but sudden cuts are causing heavy losses,” they said.
