Hyderabad: Telugu states mourned deeply on Monday after the sudden death of Telangana anthem lyricist Andeshree. His songs gave a powerful voice to the Telangana movement. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the poet’s passing and said it was an irreparable loss to Telugu literature.
In a heartfelt post on X, Chandrababu Naidu wrote, “The death of Dr Andeshree, the poet and lyricist who gave Telangana its state anthem, is shocking. His loss has left a deep void in Telugu literature. I extend my condolences to his family and pray for his soul to rest in peace.”
Pawan Kalyan and Nara Lokesh pay tributes to Andeshree
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also mourned Andeshree’s sudden demise. He said the poet’s journey from a shepherd to a renowned writer showed both courage and perseverance. Moreover, he noted that Andeshree’s love for Telangana’s folklore and dialect made his poetry eternal.
Pawan Kalyan said the song “Mayamaipothunnadamma Manishannavadu” reflected Andeshree’s deep understanding of human life. “Through ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana Janani Jaya Ketanam,’ he secured a lasting place in Telangana’s history,” he said. Furthermore, he offered condolences to the poet’s family and prayed for peace to his soul.
Meanwhile, Minister Nara Lokesh expressed his grief on X. “I deeply mourn the death of people’s poet Andeshree. His song ‘Mayamaipothunnadamma Manishannavadu’ awakened a generation. His contribution to Telugu literature will remain unforgettable,” he wrote. Additionally, Lokesh said Andeshree’s life inspired countless young writers.
Parthasarathi calls Andeshree ‘a voice of humanity’
Telangana Minister Kollusu Parthasarathi said Andeshree’s death marked the loss of a people’s poet who stirred human emotion through his writing. Furthermore, he said the song “Mayamaipothunnadamma Manishannavadu” awakened compassion and inspired people across generations.
“Andeshree stood as the voice of Telangana’s people and their movement,” Parthasarathi said. “His untimely death is heartbreaking.” Finally, he expressed condolences to the bereaved family and praised the poet’s unmatched service to literature.
