Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS leader V. Srinivas Goud on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for failing to announce any welfare measures on Sarvai Papanna Jayanti, accusing him of focusing more on blaming former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao than governing the state.
Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan, Goud said the CM had disappointed professional caste communities by not declaring any benefits during the Jayanti celebrations. “Revanth takes KCR’s name even in his sleep. Apart from blaming the former CM, he has done nothing for the people,” he said.
Goud criticised the Congress government for not fulfilling its promises to the Gowda community. He called Revanth a habitual liar who misled voters before the election and continues to mislead them in office.
Refuting the CM’s claim that KCR had capped reservations at 50%, Goud said KCR fought for 62% but Congress leaders Swapna Reddy and Gopal Reddy were the ones who approached the Supreme Court, which resulted in the cap. “Let Revanth swear on Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi that his party had no role in it,” he challenged.
Citing Sarvai Papanna’s legacy, Goud said the BRS government had moved to preserve historical sites through the Archaeology Department, while the Congress government handed over mining contracts in those areas to its own leaders. He urged Revanth to pass a law granting 42% reservations for BCs instead of indulging in what he called political falsehoods.
He also demanded immediate completion of the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project and raised the issue of toddy tapper safety, claiming 700 deaths in 20 months had gone uncompensated. Goud noted that the promised 25% reservation in liquor shop licenses for Gowdas had not been implemented.
Former BC Commission member Shubhprad Patel and BRS leader Gautam Prasad were present.
