Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday inaugurated the Eli Lilly Global Capability Centre at Gachibowli. He called the move a milestone in Telangana’s life sciences push and proof of Hyderabad’s rise as a global GCC hub.
At the event, Revanth said the project showed the state’s commitment to building a strong life sciences ecosystem. He said 20 months of effort had helped Telangana become a top destination for global investment in the sector.
He praised Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and state officials for enabling the centre’s launch. He tied the project to the state’s broader Telangana Rising 2047 vision to build a $3 trillion economy.
Revanth said the centre would power Eli Lilly’s global operations. He noted its focus on research-heavy fields like diabetes, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience. The Chief Minister assured full support from the state government.
He also welcomed Eli Lilly’s workforce to Hyderabad. “You are now part of our Hyderabad family,” he said. He promised a transparent, pro-innovation business environment going forward.
Highlighting Telangana’s existing ecosystem, Revanth said over 2,000 life sciences firms already work out of Hyderabad. He said 200+ global companies run operations in the city.
He noted that Telangana produces 40% of India’s pharmaceuticals. One in every three global vaccines, he added, is either made or developed in Hyderabad.
He said the city had become a key base for global pharma and biotech firms. “With the entry of Eli Lilly, we’ve moved one step higher in our life sciences journey,” he said.
Revanth urged firms to drive innovation through collaboration. He closed by calling on stakeholders to “shape breakthroughs, transform lives, and redefine healthcare’s future.”
