HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy defended his government’s policies while challenging BRS leaders over their stance on public welfare and farmers’ issues. He criticized BRS for blaming the people for their electoral defeat and reiterated his commitment to Telangana’s progress.
BRS Should Not Blame the People
Revanth Reddy condemned BRS leaders for blaming the public after their loss, questioning why they are not reflecting on their governance instead. He dismissed claims that he wanted KCR to be politically irrelevant, stating:
“I have no such small-minded thoughts about KCR. He should live for 100 years—he should remain in the opposition, and we will continue to serve in power.”
Farmers’ Issues: Open Challenge to KCR
CM Revanth Reddy challenged KCR to an open discussion on farmers’ issues, asserting that the Congress government has taken proactive measures:
– Implemented free RTC bus travel for women to ensure mobility and empowerment.
– Providing ₹500 gas cylinders to ease financial burdens.
– 200 units of free electricity to households.
– Reopening and upgrading schools after BRS closed 5,000 schools.
– Allocating 1.3 crore sarees to weavers, unlike BRS, which allegedly misused funds under the Bathukamma saree scheme.
Empowerment of Women’s Organizations
Revanth Reddy highlighted his government’s focus on women-led development:
– School uniform stitching contracts given to women’s self-help groups.
– 1,000 RTC buses handed over to women’s cooperatives.
– 1,000 MW solar power projects allocated to women entrepreneurs.
Social justice in university appointments
The CM announced that his government would release the full list of university Vice-Chancellor appointments, allowing people to judge whether true social justice was ensured.
Criticism of BRS leadership and political culture
Revanth Reddy accused BRS leaders of arrogance and disrespect towards constitutional authorities:
– Disrespecting the Governor and the Speaker by using singular pronouns instead of formal address.
– Organizing protests to justify their actions, questioning, “How is this fair?”
He concluded by asserting that his government is committed to inclusive governance and will not tolerate caste-based arrogance in politics.
