Telangana CM Revanth Reddy calls for cooperative federalism at NITI Aayog meet

Hyderabad: At the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy advocated for stronger Centre-State cooperation and unveiled his government’s comprehensive “Telangana Rising 2047” roadmap.

Calling for a renewed spirit of cooperative federalism, the Chief Minister stressed that States should be viewed not just as testing grounds but as key drivers of national progress. “Let us harness the power of cooperative federalism to build an India of equality, justice and shared prosperity,” he said.

Revanth Reddy detailed the State’s reform-driven approach to governance, economic strategy, and future development goals. He highlighted Telangana’s ambition to become the first State to reach a $1 trillion GSDP and contribute 8% to India’s GDP by 2047.

Condemning the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, he expressed solidarity with the armed forces and victims’ families, recalling former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s leadership during the 1971 war.

The Chief Minister outlined Telangana’s efforts to strengthen social justice, citing a caste survey and the declaration of February 4 as Social Justice Day. He also sought central approval for two bills sent to the President in this regard.

Revanth Reddy emphasised rapid industrial and infrastructure expansion. Projects such as Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, the Regional Ring Road, and the rejuvenation of Musi River were cited as pivotal. He appealed to the Centre for timely support, especially for the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme, which he termed vital for southern Telangana.

He proposed a national taskforce led by the PM and state CMs to strategise urban development and economic growth in India’s six major metros, including Hyderabad.

Revanth Reddy also underscored the importance of women and youth empowerment, detailing initiatives like Indira Mahila Shakti Mission, Rajiv Gandhi Civil Services Abhayahastam, and Rajiv Yuva Vikasam.

Recognising the challenge of climate change, he outlined Telangana’s environment-friendly policies, including EV incentives and a goal to set up 12,000 public EV charging stations by 2035.

On the global stage, Telangana has attracted investments worth ₹2.18 lakh crore from major firms through its participation in the Davos economic summits, creating over 52,000 jobs.
