CM Revanth unveils Bharat Future City plans for Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday launched the Bharat Future City project in Hyderabad. He described it as one of India’s most well-planned urban centres, built to meet international standards.

Speaking at the Public Affairs Forum of India in New Delhi, Revanth said the first phase will span more than 30,000 acres. It will include nine zones such as AI City, Health Zone, and Education Zone. Each zone will focus on future-ready sectors.

Revanth linked the project to the TelanganaRising 2047 strategy. He aims to grow Telangana’s economy to $1 trillion by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047. For this, the state will adopt a tiered zoning approach. The area within the 160-km Outer Ring Road will be Core Urban. The region between the ORR and 360-km Regional Ring Road will be a Manufacturing Zone. Areas beyond the RRR will support rural development.

The Chief Minister also stressed climate resilience. “Only cities that can mitigate climate crisis risks have a future,” he noted. To support this, the government will create an Urban Water Grid. This includes reviving the Musi River, restoring lakes, and clearing blocked storm drains. These efforts will make Hyderabad the first Indian city designed to withstand both droughts and urban floods.

Revanth also announced plans to turn Hyderabad into a global education hub. He invited top universities to set up offshore campuses in Telangana. In parallel, the state will launch new institutions like the Young India Skills University, a sports university, and integrated residential schools.

Major infrastructure push to drive investment

Revanth highlighted key projects driving Telangana’s future. These include Bharat Future City, the Regional Ring Road, the Regional Ring Rail, and a new Manufacturing Zone. “We will build a China+1 manufacturing alternative for the world,” he said.

In closing, he urged companies and professionals to participate in this transformation. “Join me in creating this amazing state and economy, with opportunities for everyone,” he said.
