Hyderabad: The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee convened at Gandhi Bhavan under the chairmanship of AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers, and committee members in attendance.

The meeting focused on seven key issues, including preparations for local body elections following a High Court directive and the implementation of 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs). The PAC also discussed plans to intensify the state-wide “vote theft and vacate power” campaign as directed by the All India Congress Committee.

CM Revanth Reddy unveiled the logo for the “vote theft” campaign during the session. The PAC welcomed the INDIA bloc’s decision to nominate Justice Sudarshan Reddy, a native of Telangana, as its Vice Presidential candidate.

PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the BJP had secured power for a third term through electoral fraud and said Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against vote theft would be widely promoted across Telangana. He claimed the Congress government’s public welfare initiatives such as farmer assurance, loan waivers, ration cards, Indiramma housing, and distribution of fine rice had received strong public response.

The party’s padayatra was also reportedly met with enthusiastic public support. With preparations underway for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, the PAC emphasised that the contest held strategic importance. The committee resolved to proceed with comprehensive planning on all fronts.

Mahesh Kumar Goud criticised the BRS for spreading false rumours about urea shortages to create panic among farmers and exploit the issue for political gain. The PAC also reviewed the party’s internal organisational strengthening and formation of various committees across the state.
