Hyderabad: On the 83rd anniversary of the Quit India movement, the Telangana Congress on Saturday honoured those who took part in the struggle and acknowledged the sacrifices made by freedom fighters for the nation’s independence.
At Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud hoisted the National Flag and offered tributes to all who laid down their lives for India’s liberation. A PowerPoint presentation on the Election Commission, recently shared by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was also shown to party workers.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Jupally Krishna Rao, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao and several other Congress leaders attended the programme.
Accuses BJP of undermining Constitution during tribute
Addressing the gathering, Goud alleged that the BJP-led Union government was conspiring to alter the Constitution, calling it an assault on India’s democratic foundations. He criticised the Election Commission, accusing it of functioning as a frontal organisation of the BJP. He claimed that those who questioned the government were being branded as traitors.
