CS orders collectors to submit rain damage reports by Nov 3

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed all district collectors to immediately assess and report the extent of rain and flood damage caused by Cyclone Montha, following instructions from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Collectors told to submit reports by November 3

During a teleconference held on Saturday with officials from the affected districts, the Chief Secretary emphasised the urgency of collecting and submitting data. Special Chief Secretary for Disaster Management Arvind Kumar and senior departmental officials also participated in the meeting.

Ramakrishna Rao said about 24 districts across Telangana had been impacted by the cyclone. He instructed collectors to report data on crop loss, infrastructure damage, livestock, fatalities, and other key areas without delay.

He further asked officials to submit complete damage reports by November 3 to enable timely compensation and rehabilitation.

Call for permanent solutions in flood-prone zones

The Chief Secretary noted that sudden rainfall events of 25 to 30 centimetres had occurred without warning in recent times. He urged each district to develop proactive plans for such weather emergencies.

Officials informed the meeting that road, power, and water restoration work is underway in the cyclone-hit districts. The government has begun releasing funds for repair work on damaged Anganwadi centres and school buildings.

Ramakrishna Rao also instructed collectors to identify flood-prone zones and submit proposals for permanent mitigation measures.

He stressed the need for swift rehabilitation efforts and asked collectors to avoid any delay in helping affected communities.
