Ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha and V. Srinivas release fish seedlings in Maktal mandal, Narayanpet district

Hyderabad: Telangana ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha and V. Srinivas on Friday released thousands of fish seedlings in Telangana. The event took place at Sangam Banda in Maktal mandal of Narayanpet district.

They released 1.8 lakh fish seedlings into the Chittem Narsi Reddy Balancing Reservoir and another 80,000 into the Maktal large tank. The drive, launched under the fisheries department with a 100 per cent subsidy, aims to strengthen fisheries and improve rural livelihoods.

Minister V. Srinivas said the programme would directly benefit Mudiraj families who depend on fishing for income. Moreover, he explained that Telangana has over 26,000 water bodies and lakhs of members in fishing societies. “We want to ensure their economic progress through free fish seed distribution,” he said.

Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said the state also focuses on health and education. “Our goal is a hospital every 30 km and a dialysis centre in every constituency,” he said. “We also plan 35-bed hospitals in every mandal.”

Furthermore, he stated that the government had introduced transparency in fish stocking. “Every tank now displays details of fish species, quantity, and local committee heads,” he added.

₹3.7 crore beautification works begin at Maktal Mini Tank Bund

In addition, the ministers launched ₹3.7 crore beautification works for the Maktal Mini Tank Bund. MLAs Dr Chittem Parnika Reddy, Madhusudan Reddy, Yennam Srinivas Reddy, and Eerlapalli Shankar attended. District Collector Sikta Patnaik, SP DDrVineeth, State Fisheries Chairman Sai, Fisheries Director Nikhila, and District Library Chairman Varl Vijay Kumar also joined the event.
