Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Nizamabad, Dharmapuri Arvind, made sensational remarks over the post of Telangana BJP state president. Speaking to a news channel, he revealed that he too had sought the position recently.
Dharmapuri Arvind on BJP state president post
Arvind said some within the party accuse him of arrogance, but he dismissed the charge. “I have been in the party for eight years. Who have I shown arrogance to? There is no answer to this. Positions must be given based on performance,” he asserted.
He pointed out that the BJP declared it would appoint a Backward Class (BC) Chief Minister candidate ahead of the Assembly elections. “The high command asked me about it. I questioned why such a declaration was made when senior Reddy leaders like Kishan Reddy, DK Aruna, and Jitender Reddy did not even contest the Assembly polls. When a message is given to people, it must be backed by action,” he remarked.
Comments on KCR, BRS leadership
On state politics, Arvind said the people of Telangana may or may not support Congress, but they “definitely dislike the BRS.” He recalled that before 2014, everyone admired K. Chandrashekar Rao, including himself. “But as Chief Minister, KCR has been a disaster,” he said.
He further claimed that KTR and Kavitha had worsened KCR’s image. “I never made loose remarks about Kavitha, but when I respond, it hits hard. I will reply to KCR and KTR in their own language,” Arvind added.
Credits father for political grounding
Arvind credited his political grounding to his father and former PCC president D. Srinivas. Calling him his “political mentor,” Arvind said, “There has never been, and will not be, a more successful PCC chief than him.”
