Hyderabad: Engineers’ Day was celebrated at Jalasoudha on Tuesday by the Hyderabad Engineers’ Association, marking the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Leaders thanked the Telangana government for clearing long-pending promotions to engineers after 33 years.
Engineers thank govt, seek reforms
The association said the government held DPCs, followed reservation rules, and promoted eligible engineers without extending retirements. In total, 200 deputy executive engineers, 84 executive engineers, 46 superintending engineers, 10 chief engineers, and one ENC gained promotions. Leaders thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the irrigation minister, advisor Adityanath Das, the principal secretary, and the special secretary.
They urged the government to keep minor irrigation under a separate chief engineer. They also demanded that civil, electrical, and agricultural engineers receive posts linked to their academic branches. Leaders said such reforms would improve efficiency in the irrigation department.
Association president Rapolu Ravinder, general secretary Chakradhar, working president Rajasekhar, Ramakrishna, and about 100 engineers attended the programme.
