Farmers face severe urea shortage, alleges BRS leader Ravindra Kumar

Ravindra Kumar slams Congress over urea shortage for farmers

Hyderabad: Former Devarakonda MLA and BRS Nalgonda district president Ravindra Kumar on Sunday accused the Congress government of completely failing to address the urea shortage crisis in Telangana, leaving farmers across the state in distress.

Speaking to reporters, Kumar said farmers were waiting for hours in long queues often placing footwear or land passbooks to reserve their place just to secure a single bag of urea. “There is not even one bag available. The situation is desperate,” he said.

Urea shortage: Farmers stand in queues through day and night

Kumar criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying the government was indifferent despite widespread appeals from farmers. “This Congress government is acting like rain on a bull it makes no impact,” he said, referring to the administration’s apathy.

He alleged that farmers in Devarakonda constituency and across Telangana were camping at PACS centres without food or sleep, hoping to get urea. “KCR had warned that voting for Congress would bring back the old days of hardship. That prediction is coming true,” Kumar said.

Ravindra Kumar slams failed promises on farm loans, pensions, and power

He further warned that if urea is not supplied in the next two to three days, paddy crops will begin to suffer irreversible yield losses. Kumar also accused the Congress of betraying its election promises.

“They claimed to be a farmer-friendly government, but it’s turned into a betrayal regime. There is no sign of the ₹2 lakh loan waiver, ₹15,000 farmer support, or ₹500 paddy bonus,” he said. “They promised 24-hour power for agriculture, but there are multiple power cuts daily.”

He also targeted the government over other welfare promises, including ₹2,500 for women, gold for brides, and ₹4,000 pensions. “Where are those schemes? Even basic governance has taken a back seat while this government focuses on commissions and political drama,” he said.

Kumar demanded that the Congress immediately fulfil its promises and address the farm crisis instead of engaging in empty rhetoric.
