HYDERABAD: Former minister Harish Rao strongly criticised the state government, accusing it of vindictive action against leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
He demanded that the government cease what he described as retaliatory measures targeting BRS leaders. Rao alleged that cases were being filed against them simply for questioning the government’s failures, particularly in relation to issues at the University of Hyderabad (HCU).
“Is the government going to arrest people for questioning its shortcomings? Will it file cases just because someone posts on social media?” he asked, expressing serious concern over what he called a clampdown on dissent.
Harish Rao urged the government to immediately withdraw all such “false and illegal” cases, stating that suppressing voices of opposition was undemocratic and unacceptable.
