Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Sunday accused the Congress government of blocking irrigation from the Kaleshwaram project, putting farmers at risk during the peak monsoon.
At the Assembly media point, Harish said the Congress refused to start the Kaleshwaram motors out of political revenge. He warned that this delay was harming farmers who depend on the water for their crops.
“Rivers are in full flood. The SRSP filled in just one day. Yet Mid Manair hasn’t received a drop,” he said. Harish blamed Congress for Kaleshwaram inaction and said this was not just mismanagement, but an attack on farmers’ livelihoods.
He had already written to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging him to act. “This is not governance—it’s political punishment,” he said. “The government must start the pumps and release water without delay.”
Harish also criticised irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. “Neither the CM nor the irrigation minister seems to grasp how urgent this is,” he said. According to him, the administration is punishing farmers to target BRS.
Again, Harish Rao blamed Congress for Kaleshwaram delay and demanded quick action. “Switch on the pumps now. Fill the reservoirs. Don’t use farmers as pawns in political games,” he said.
He urged the government to respond quickly and focus on the needs of farmers before the damage becomes irreversible.
