Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao accused the Congress government in Telangana of unleashing repression. He demanded action against police officers who assaulted a tribal youth in Nalgonda district. Rao raised the issue on social media on Wednesday.
Harish Rao demands action on police assault
Rao said the youth only joined a protest seeking urea and asked whether that act counted as a crime. He alleged that police abused the youth on caste lines and dragged him to the station. Officers tied the youth’s hands and legs and beat him with lathis, he added.
The BRS leader asked whether such third-degree methods reflected “Indiramma Rajyam.” He questioned if Congress could still call this democracy. Rao alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s rule had turned into anarchy, where dissent brought beatings, cases, and arrests.
He said the youth now cannot walk because of injuries and must receive justice. Rao insisted the government carry full responsibility for the victim’s future. He demanded a probe into the incident and pressed for immediate action against the officers involved.
