Hyderabad: Former Telangana minister T. Harish Rao on Friday accused Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh of making provocative remarks on the Banakacharla project and questioned the silence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on the matter.
Addressing the press at Telangana Bhavan, Rao claimed Lokesh’s statements on building the Banakacharla project on the Godavari were made with the backing of Revanth Reddy. He alleged the Andhra leader was emboldened by the Congress leadership’s tacit support.
Rao further accused the BJP of being complicit, saying Lokesh appeared confident he could secure permissions due to BJP backing. “When Lokesh talks about getting approvals and executing the project, why is the Congress government not responding?” he asked.
He criticised both CM Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy for their silence. “Neither of them denies the comments nor clarifies the state’s position,” he said.
Rao alleged an implicit understanding between the Congress, TDP, and BJP, calling it a “slanderous agreement.” He also accused the Congress and BJP of endorsing Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu’s aggressive water policies.
