Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister G. Jagadish Reddy on Thursday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of surrendering Telangana’s water rights to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Jagadish alleged that Revanth had compromised the state’s share of Krishna and Godavari river waters by aligning with Andhra leadership. He claimed the Chief Minister was enacting a political script dictated by Chandrababu Naidu and demanded his resignation.
Jagadish pointed to a contradiction in Revanth’s stance on the Banakacherla meeting, recalling that the CM initially stated he would boycott the discussions but later participated.
He alleged that Revanth’s actions revived the old water-sharing imbalances that plagued undivided Andhra Pradesh for decades, accusing him of shifting Telangana’s position to favour Rayalaseema interests.
The BRS leader claimed anti-Telangana forces were conspiring against the state and questioned the secrecy of any discussions held in Delhi with the Andhra leadership.
“Why hasn’t he convened an Apex Council meeting if he’s serious? Is he afraid of prison?” Jagadish asked.
He further accused Revanth of failing to activate the Kaleshwaram pumps while discreetly enabling water diversion to Andhra. Jagadish warned that the BJP was aligning with Revanth for electoral leverage in Andhra Pradesh.
He also suggested that the government might target K.T. Rama Rao with notices as a distraction from its water policy failures. He said the BRS would continue to fight to protect Telangana’s interests.
