Hyderabad: The Congress government will issue job appointment orders by August 15 to all families who lost land for the Yadadri and Pulichintala power projects, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Friday.
Speaking at Veerlapalem in Nalgonda district, where he dedicated an 800 MW unit of the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant, Reddy said displaced families would receive employment within the same projects an assurance given during land acquisition.
He framed the move as a matter of dignity and described it as part of the Congress government’s “humane governance.” The commitment, he said, applies to both Yadadri and Pulichintala project oustees.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar joined the event. The leaders also laid the foundation for an integrated ₹1,000 crore residential township for power plant staff.
Reddy credited Bhatti, who holds the Energy and Finance portfolios, with reviving the stalled project. He said Bhatti cleared environmental hurdles, completed public hearings, and accelerated execution, enabling 1,600 MW to come online.
The plant will add 800 MW in October and another 800 MW in December. It is expected to reach full capacity of 4,000 MW by February 2026. Reddy praised Telangana GENCO and the Energy Department for their pace and coordination.
He also acknowledged local legislators, including MLA B. Laxma Reddy and MLC Shankar Naik, for flagging compensation gaps, especially in tribal areas. Reddy said those cases would be reviewed.
He called the plant a model of inclusive development and said no land-losing family would be left out.
