Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday described the Congress win in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election as a referendum on the party’s two-year governance in Telangana.
Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Minister thanked voters for the decisive mandate and said the victory reflects public endorsement of the government’s welfare programmes and development work. “This win increases our responsibility. We don’t get carried away in victory, nor disheartened in defeat,” he said.
Revanth takes aim at BJP, BRS
Revanth Reddy said Congress polled 51% of the votes in the segment, calling it proof of people’s trust. He attacked Union Minister Kishan Reddy, claiming the BJP now secured only 25% of the votes the minister had polled in the previous MP election. “This is a tremor before an earthquake,” he remarked, urging the minister to “change his method.”
He accused the BRS of spreading misinformation and blocking development. Addressing BRS leaders, he told KT Rama Rao to “reduce arrogance” and asked Harish Rao to “shed jealousy.” He stated that former CM KCR was inactive due to ill health and “doesn’t require a response now.”
Focus on civic reforms and future plans
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a fully cosmopolitan city. He cited encroachments, garbage, and drugs as pressing urban issues. Revanth highlighted the launch of initiatives like Hydraa (anti-encroachment) and Eagle Force (anti-drug action).
He said the cabinet would meet on November 17 to decide on local body elections. Asserting his long-term vision, he declared, “Congress will rule Telangana for the next 10 years. We will deliver real change.”
TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, and several ministers were present at the press meet.
