Hyderabad: Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the BC reservation movement should continue with the same spirit that drove the Telangana statehood struggle. He made these remarks on Saturday while attending the BC Ikya Vedika bandh held peacefully in Amangal town.
Jupally calls for unity in the BC movement
Speaking at the gathering, Jupally said Backward Classes had remained behind for generations in education, employment, and politics. He noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, following Rahul Gandhi’s guidance, set an example for the country by conducting a caste survey in Telangana.
According to the minister, the survey highlighted the need to provide 42 per cent BC reservations. The government sent this proposal to the Governor through a Government Order, yet the Bill still awaited the President’s approval. He added that the Centre could easily clear the Bill if it truly wanted to support BCs.
‘Opposition must acknowledge Congress efforts’
The minister stated that the government had made strong legal and constitutional efforts to secure BC reservations. He urged opposition parties to recognise the Congress government’s commitment instead of engaging in political blame.
In his words, the BJP-led Centre acted vindictively by delaying the approval of the BC quota Bill. He emphasised that the Congress remained fully committed to providing 42 per cent BC reservations in Telangana.
Narayana Reddy pledges full support
Local MLA Narayana Reddy joined the programme and announced complete support for the BC Ikya Vedika bandh. He said the agitation united communities across Telangana under the banner of social justice.
Other leaders — Shivalingam, Allaji, Balakrishnaiah, Keshavulu, Venkatesh, Arjun Rao, Patya Naik, Ganesh, Jagan, Niranjan, Vijay, Prasad, and Lakshman — also took part in the Amangal meeting.
