Hyderabad: State Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday said he cannot promise a ministerial post to his brother, Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, as the decision lies entirely with the Congress high command.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Venkat Reddy said he was not aware of any commitment given to his brother. He stressed that only the chief minister, the PCC president, and the party leadership could take such decisions. “Even as a senior minister, I don’t have that authority,” he said.
His statement followed remarks made by Rajagopal Reddy at a public event in Nalgonda. The MLA claimed the Congress leadership had promised him a cabinet berth when he rejoined the party. He accused the party of sidelining him while elevating younger and newer leaders.
Rajagopal Reddy said he had raised the same issue after Venkat Reddy’s victory in Bhuvanagiri. He denied seeking the post for personal gain and said he would never pursue power by lowering his self-respect. Despite his frustration, he vowed to continue serving the people of Munugode.
