Hyderabad: Congress leader and Minister Konda Surekha’s husband Konda Murali clarified that he has no differences with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, putting an end to speculation about internal rifts in the ruling party.
Konda Murali rules out differences with CM Revanth
Addressing a press conference, Murali said some media reports had misrepresented his remarks. He explained that the comparison between Revanth Reddy and Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was made only to highlight leadership qualities, not rivalry.
Furthermore, Murali said he had no link to the controversy involving former OSD N. Sumanth. He stated that he never visited Minister Konda Surekha’s chamber and did not interfere in her official matters.
He also expressed full confidence that the Chief Minister would soon nominate him for the MLC post, as promised. “I believe in the Chief Minister’s word,” Murali said.
Murali clarifies on family and political links
Murali explained that his daughter and son-in-law live in London, where they run a business. Moreover, he emphasised that they hold no political posts and are not members of any party.
Context: police action against ex-OSD triggers row
Earlier this week, the Congress government faced controversy when it removed Sumanth, former OSD to Minister Surekha, after receiving corruption complaints. Consequently, the Task Force police went to her residence in Gayatri Hills, Jubilee Hills, acting on reports that Sumanth was staying there.
However, the situation turned tense when officers in plain clothes arrived late at night. Minister Surekha’s daughter, Konda Sushmita, stopped them and demanded to know why they came without prior notice. She also accused senior Congress leaders of using the police for political pressure.
Meanwhile, the episode added fuel to political speculation within the ruling party, though Murali’s clarification sought to defuse tensions.
