Hyderabad: In a fresh twist to Telangana’s political scene, former MLA Koneru Konappa has once again severed ties with the Congress party, just months after rejoining it ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Announcing his resignation on Monday, Konappa made it clear that he will never return to the Congress fold. “I may join any party in the future, but not the Congress,” he declared at a meeting with supporters and local cadres.
Criticising the Congress-led state government, Konappa alleged that not a single development initiative had been undertaken even after 16 months in power. “This government has done nothing to benefit the public,” he said.
In a striking statement, he referred to BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as “a god-like figure,” claiming he had never held any personal grudge against the BRS leadership. Konappa had earlier quit the party after it admitted a political rival of his into its ranks.
While Konappa has not officially announced his next political move, sources say he is exploring options. His public praise for KCR has fuelled speculation about a possible return to the BRS, though no confirmation has been made.
The ex-MLA’s resignation underscores growing dissent within Congress circles, even as the ruling party attempts to consolidate its position in the state.
