Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Friday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of burdening Telangana with a ₹15,000 crore liability. He blamed the Congress government’s actions for allegedly forcing L&T to withdraw from the Hyderabad Metro project.
Speaking to the media, KTR called the decision “reckless, arrogant, and dictatorial.” He said the fallout began when L&T offered to repair the Medigadda barrage at its own cost. That move, he claimed, undermined the Chief Minister’s narrative that the Kaleshwaram project had failed.
KTR: Revanth’s decisions caused massive Metro setback
KTR alleged that the state government harassed L&T, cancelled the Airport Metro works, and conspired to transfer 280 acres of Metro land to individuals close to the Chief Minister. He said these actions drove L&T out of the project.
Recalling the BRS government’s tenure, KTR noted that the Metro had grown to 69 km and served over five lakh passengers daily. The state had even extended a ₹3,000 crore soft loan to L&T during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep the project on track.
He slammed the current government for turning a ₹20,000 crore public asset into a ₹15,000 crore liability. According to him, the decision lacked Cabinet discussion or public transparency.
KTR demanded a central probe to investigate what he described as a scandal involving commissions, land deals, and misuse of power.
BRS to raise L&T issue in Jubilee Hills by-election
KTR said the BRS would take the issue to the public during the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll. He pledged to fight what he termed “corporate blackmail” and asserted that Hyderabad’s voters would stand with the BRS.
