HYDERABAD, February 8: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has expressed strong criticism of the Congress-led Telangana government’s recent land acquisition initiatives. In a statement on social media, KTR alleged that the administration’s actions are adversely impacting the livelihoods of the state’s poorer residents.
KTR highlighted the ongoing land acquisition process in Lagacharla, situated within Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s home constituency of Kodangal. He accused the government of forcibly seizing lands from economically disadvantaged individuals to benefit private enterprises and industrialists. He further alleged that the administration is prioritising the interests of companies linked to the Chief Minister’s associates and major industrialists over those of the common people.
Reflecting on past incidents, KTR noted that despite facing police action and imprisonment while resisting such land acquisitions, the current government continues its efforts unabated. He criticised the authorities for demolishing small businesses and homes in both urban and rural areas, suggesting a pattern of oppression under the current regime.
KTR concluded by expressing concern over the state’s trajectory, stating that Telangana, which had enjoyed a decade of peace, is now witnessing increasing challenges under the present government’s policies. He urged the administration to reconsider its approach to land acquisition and to prioritise the welfare of its citizens.
The government’s recent actions in Lagacharla, including the acquisition of approximately 110 acres across several villages amid significant police presence, have sparked local opposition and broader public debate. Additionally, incidents such as the demolition of a woman’s dairy establishment in Hyderabad’s Chilukanagar area by municipal authorities have further fueled criticism of the administration’s policies.
