Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao released the book Prajayodudu by author Mahendra Thotakoori at Telangana Bhavan on Independence Day on Friday. He described it as a fitting tribute to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the Telangana movement.
KTR said the book, launched on a historic day for the country, was a gift to Telangana society and especially to KCR, whom he credited with achieving statehood against heavy odds. Quoting poet Goreti Venkanna’s praise of KCR as “a son who gave birth to his mother,” he called the remark no exaggeration.
Criticising Congress leaders for accusing KCR of pushing Telangana into debt, KTR said the Union government itself had stated in Parliament that the state’s borrowings over 10 years stood at ₹2.8 lakh crore. He alleged the opposition was resorting to false campaigns due to its inability to govern or fulfil promises.

KTR defends KCR’s record on Telangana development
He listed KCR’s achievements, including building the world’s largest lift irrigation project, taking Telangana from 14th to 1st rank in agriculture, providing piped drinking water to every household, eradicating fluorosis in Nalgonda, and establishing medical and nursing colleges in every district. He noted that the Rythu Bandhu scheme had delivered ₹73,000 crore to 70 lakh farmers, calling it unmatched globally.
KTR urged party workers to counter what he called Congress and BJP conspiracies to malign KCR, and to take the Centre’s official debt figures to the public.
