KTR slams Medigadda report as a ‘hoax’, blames Congress and BJP for conspiracy

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on both the Congress-led Telangana government and the BJP at the Centre, calling the final report on the Medigadda barrage by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) a complete hoax.

KTR claimed that Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the internationally reputed firm involved in the project, had questioned how the NDSA could issue a final report without conducting even the most basic field tests. “L&T’s outright dismissal of the NDSA report exposes its flaws and amounts to a direct blow to both the Congress and BJP governments,” he said.

Mocking the Revanth Reddy-led administration, KTR said it was absurd to tout a “fault-ridden” document as an official standard. “From its hurried preliminary findings during the assembly elections to the final report now, inconsistencies run through every phase,” he added.

He further accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of deliberately neglecting the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project to prevent former CM KCR from receiving credit. “By abandoning this critical project, the government has caused massive crop failures across the state and pushed over 500 farmers to suicide in just 18 months,” KTR alleged.

Drawing a comparison, he pointed out that the diaphragm wall of the Polavaram project was quickly rebuilt after damage, while Medigadda has been left in limbo. “There’s no greater injustice than letting the state’s lifeline rot in cold storage,” he fumed.

KTR said the Medigadda issue was being weaponised to derail the BRS party’s silver jubilee celebrations. “This so-called final report is just another episode in the ongoing political vendetta,” he said, demanding that the state government and NDSA respond to L&T’s objections instead of maligning a project built with global standards.

He also called for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to publicly apologise to Telangana’s farmers and act decisively to restore irrigation facilities, as was done in Polavaram.

“The farmers of this state will not forget. They will give a fitting reply to this political theatre at the right time,” KTR warned. (NSS)
