HYDERABAD: CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao expressed dissatisfaction with the Telangana state budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka in the Assembly on Wednesday. Speaking to media he asserted that the budget does not fulfill the aspirations of the people and criticized the ruling party for making election promises they are now unable to keep.
Sambasiva Rao highlighted that the current budget has increased by only βΉ9,000 crore compared to the previous year, questioning how such an increment would benefit the public. He raised concerns about the allocation of βΉ23,000 crore for 12 irrigation projects, doubting the feasibility of completing these projects with the given funds. He also accused the government of announcing numerous schemes without allocating sufficient funds for their implementation.
The MLA acknowledged that the allocations for SC and ST sub-plans in this year’s budget are beneficial. However, he described the overall budget as a mixed bag, likening it to the traditional Ugadi pachadi, which combines various flavors, indicating a blend of positives and negatives.
Sambasiva Rao’s critique reflects a broader concern about the state’s fiscal planning and its alignment with public expectations, emphasizing the need for more realistic and adequately funded budgetary provisions.
