HYDERABAD: In a major boost to Telangana’s industrial ambitions, Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corporation has proposed to establish a next-generation industrial park in the upcoming Future City, with an initial investment of ₹1,000 crore.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting between Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and senior leadership of Marubeni Corporation in Tokyo on the first day of the state’s official visit to Japan. The two sides signed and exchanged a Letter of Intent (LoI), formalising Marubeni’s proposal to develop a state-of-the-art industrial park.
The project will be developed over 600 acres in phases and is intended to cater specifically to Japanese firms and multinational corporations seeking to establish manufacturing units in Hyderabad. The park is expected to attract further investments exceeding ₹5,000 crore.
The Marubeni industrial park will focus on sectors such as electronics, green pharmaceuticals, precision engineering, aerospace, and defence—areas that align with Telangana’s focus on advanced manufacturing and foreign investment. The initiative is projected to create around 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, significantly boosting employment and skill development in the state.
Telangana has positioned itself as a key investment destination, backed by progressive policies, advanced infrastructure, and a strong commitment to innovation. The proposed park further cements its status as a manufacturing and investment hub in India.
Welcoming Marubeni’s entry into Telangana’s industrial landscape, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the park would be among the first major developments within the envisioned ‘Future City’—a pioneering urban project designed as India’s first Net Zero city.
“We are delighted to have Marubeni as a marquee investor for the Future City. This park will enrich livelihoods and strengthen Telangana’s skill ecosystem,” said the Chief Minister, adding that the state would offer full support to ensure a seamless business experience.
Highlighting the historical ties between India and Japan, Revanth Reddy invited Japanese businesses to consider Telangana as a favourable alternative under the ‘China +1’ strategy.
Dai Sakakura, Executive Officer and COO of Next Generation Business at Marubeni Corporation, welcomed the Telangana delegation and praised the Chief Minister’s vision. “We are delighted after hearing CM Revanth Reddy’s vision for Telangana and Hyderabad, and wish to be among the earliest to explore possibilities there,” he said.
Marubeni Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, operates in 65 countries through over 410 group companies and employs more than 50,000 people worldwide. Its business interests span a diverse range of sectors including energy, transport, real estate, metals, chemicals, agriculture, aerospace, and finance.
A joint team comprising representatives of the Telangana government and Marubeni Corporation will now promote the industrial park to global investors, positioning it as a flagship project within Future City.
