Hyderabad: Residents of Parigi mandal in Vikarabad district experienced mild tremors in the early hours of Thursday, prompting many to rush out of their homes in fear. The tremors were reported in Basireddypalli, Rangapur and Nyamatnagar villages at around 4 a.m., lasting for approximately three seconds, according to locals.
At the time of the incident, heavy rain was lashing the area, heightening the alarm among residents. Authorities had yet to confirm the earthquake’s intensity or other seismic data.
Past seismic activity in Vikarabad district
The district has recorded similar tremors in recent years. In February 2024, the National Centre for Seismology confirmed a 2.5-magnitude earthquake in Vikarabad. In 2022, Parigi mandal also reported instances of ground shaking.
