HYDERABAD: Telangana MLAs Ramachandru Naik and Minister Seethakka have strongly defended the government’s recent initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education and welfare in hostels. Addressing concerns about increased mess charges, they argued that these hikes were necessary to ensure better nutrition and facilities for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Ramachandru Naik Supports Young India Schools and Mess Charge Hike
MLA Ramachandru Naik praised the Young India Schools initiative, emphasizing its role in providing quality education to underprivileged children. He also welcomed the 40% increase in mess charges, calling it a positive step towards improving student nutrition and overall hostel conditions.
Seethakka highlights social welfare initiatives
Minister Seethakka asserted that the government had undertaken a caste census in line with Rahul Gandhi’s promise, ensuring equitable welfare distribution. She also noted that economically weaker sections (EWS) among OC communities are benefiting from government-run welfare hostels.
She further stated that upon assuming power, the Congress government immediately increased mess and cosmetic charges in hostels to enhance student welfare.
Regarding recent reports of contaminated food in Gurukulam schools, she assured that the government is taking swift action, ensuring regular inspections by officials. She accused the BRS of exaggerating minor issues, stressing that strict measures will be enforced if student safety is compromised.
Additionally, she pointed out that many pending bills from the previous government have not yet been cleared, indicating inherited administrative challenges.
