Mohammad Azharuddin meets CM Revanth Reddy ahead of Telangana Cabinet induction

Hyderabad: Congress minority leader Mohammad Azharuddin met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday ahead of his induction into the Telangana Cabinet. The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s residence in Jubilee Hills, where the two discussed the upcoming ceremony. Azharuddin expressed gratitude to Revanth Reddy for including him in the expanded Cabinet.

Azharuddin to take oath soon

The former Indian cricket captain will take oath as minister day after tomorrow. Congress leadership recently approved his inclusion in the new Cabinet. According to party sources, the decision carries political weight.

The Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency faces a by-election on November 11. Considering the area’s strong minority vote base—around 70,000 voters—the party viewed Azharuddin’s entry as a strategic step.

Congress restores minority representation

So far, the Cabinet had no Muslim minister. Azharuddin’s inclusion brings back minority representation in the Telangana government.

Earlier reports indicated that Congress withheld the Jubilee Hills ticket from him during the Assembly polls to accommodate him later in the government. This latest move now confirms that political plan.
