HYDERABAD: Nagar Kurnool MP Mallu Ravi has defended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent comments regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s status as a Backward Class (BC) individual. Addressing the media on Sunday, Ravi stated that Revanth Reddy merely pointed out that PM Modi is not a natural-born BC but a “converted BC,” and there was nothing derogatory in his remarks. He further explained that since Modi was not born into a BC community, he might not fully comprehend the oppression and humiliation faced by BCs. Ravi emphasised that Revanth Reddy is well-versed in BC issues and, upon assuming office as Chief Minister, initiated a caste census to ensure proportional representation in education, employment, and politics.
Ravi challenged that if PM Modi had genuine concern for BCs, he should have conducted a caste census to address their grievances. He questioned the repeated self-identification of Modi as a BC and demanded clarity on what the Prime Minister has accomplished for the BC communities. Ravi urged local BJP leaders to persuade Modi to undertake a caste census to deliver justice to BCs.
