HYDERABAD: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao has strongly countered Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s latest remarks questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste background. Speaking to the media on Saturday, Rao accused Reddy of making misleading statements and attempting to create divisions.
Raghunandan Rao asserted that Modi has always belonged to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and dismissed allegations that his caste was reclassified after 2002. He argued that the Congress party, which ruled India for decades, failed to uplift backward communities and was now attempting to distort facts.
Rao further claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has consistently worked for the welfare of OBCs, unlike Congress, which he alleged only remembered backward communities for electoral gains. He criticized Revanth Reddy for focusing on Modi’s caste instead of addressing pressing governance issues in Telangana.
The BJP MP also took a dig at the Congress-led state government, questioning its development agenda and accusing it of misleading people with false promises. He warned that the people of Telangana would see through such tactics and respond appropriately in upcoming elections.
The exchange between Raghunandan Rao and Revanth Reddy has intensified the ongoing political discourse in the state, with both parties gearing up for further confrontations.
